2018 Lucas Oil NCHA Super Stakes – April 4, 2018 – Fort Worth, Tex.

Brent Erickson and Reyefied, by Dual Rey, scored 221 points on Wednesday to win the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Open Limited championship. Eric Magby and One Sneaky Bluegrass, by Bluegrass Cat, took reserve with 219 points, while David Facincani on ARC Cat N The Mist, and Hayden Upton on Big Shoes To Phil, tied for third with 217 points in the eight-rider finals.

Brent Erickson, the NCHA earner of $636,963, placed fourth in the 2016 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Open on One Time Smarty, owned by Iron Rose Ranch. He also won the Utah Futurity 3-Year-Old Open and Open Gelding in 2016 aboard Reyrfied, bred by Kelly Mahler and John Meredith, and owned by Dacole Investment Co., Reno, Nev. Five-year-old Reyefied  is the NCHA earner of $31,530.

Eric Magby, the NCHA earner of $142,953, and One Sneaky Bluegrass, owned and bred by Browne’s Bar XL Ranch, Wilburton, Okla., also competed in the finals of the Super Stakes Classic Open, where they scored 216 points to place 16th in the 29-horse field. Magby and the red roan gelding claimed two Open Limited championships in 2017 – in the Brazos Bash 4-Year-Old Derby and the Cotton Stakes 4-Year-Old Derby. Earlier this year they won the Abilene Spectacular 5/6 Open Limited.

Five-year-old One Sneaky Bluegrass, the NCHA earner of $49,407, made his limited age event debut as champion of the 2016 Waco Texas 3-Year-Old Limited with Magby in the saddle.

Hayden Upton, the NCHA earner of $199,648, won last year’s Super Stakes Open 5/6 Classic Limited riding Superfly, owned by Brett and Shaye Johnson. Big Shoes To Phil, his 2018 mount, sired by High Brow Cat and owned by Bar RR Ranch and bred by Waco Bend Ranch, is a full brother to Dont Look Twice LTE $824,546, cutting’s all-time #1 money-earning mare. Tapt Twice LTE $279,457, dam of Dont Look Twice and Big Shoes To Phil has produced 21 NCHA earners of $1,372,074.

Davide Facincani, the earner of $35,699, won the 2017 Brazos Bash 3-Year-Old Open Limited riding Six Pack Cat, owned and bred by Rose Valley Ranch. He first showed ARC Cat N The Mist, also owned by Rose Valley Ranch, as a 2016 NCHA Futurity Open Limited (4th place) finalist and as an Open Semi-Finalist. Sired by Dual Rey, 5-year-old ARC Cat N The Mist is a three-quarter sister to ARC Catty Dual LTE $168,762.
