Megan Miller, Poolville, Tex., scored 219 points on Friday, the first of four days of NCHA Futurity Non-Pro first go-round competition. Miller rode Hey Boo Boo, by Dual Smart Rey. Ali Good, Ringling, Okla., aboard Sneakish, by Hottish, was second with 218 points and Regan Plendl, Kingsley, Iowa, was third with 217 points on Cats Lightning Rey, by NRR Cat King Cole.
Hey Boo Boo was bred by Megan and her husband Matt out of Travs Scooter LTE $221,566, by Smart Lil Scoot, and is half-brother to Bada Boo LTE $112,860, by One Time Pepto, and three-quarter brother to Booreylicious LTE $60,573. Matt Miller showed Travs Scooter to win the 2006 NCHA Non-Pro Futurity, the 2007 Music City Non-Pro Futurity, and 2007 Brazos Bash Non-Pro Derby. Megan also showed the black mare to win the 2009 NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro Classic.
Megan Miller is the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame earner of $975,806. In addition to the 2009 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro win on Travs Scooter, she also won the 2009 Super Stakes Non-Pro on Itawtathenapuddycat LTE $325,363.
Last week, Matt Miller, who turned professional in 2009, earned a cumulative of 436.5 points, as one of the top qualifiers for the NCHA Futurity Open Semi-Finals, riding Carolena Reyn, also by Dual Smart Rey, and bred by the Millers.
Ali Good, who placed third in the 2013 NCHA Summer Spectacular Senior Youth division, is the NCHA earner of $22,331. This year, Ali showed Cat Atat Cat LTE $82,090, by High Brow Cat, to win the $35,000 Non-Pro all-age division of The Non-Pro Cutting, and to place third in the NCHA Congress World Series Non-Pro.
Sneakish was bred by Dustin Adams out of Smooth Sneakin LTE $73,716, who Adams showed as a 2011 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Finalist, and sold for $44,000 in the 2013 NCHA Futurity Sales.
Regan Plendl is the NCHA earner of $170,364. He placed sixth in the 2015 NCHA Futurity Amateur Finals riding MK Kenli LTE $34,296, and went on to win the 2016 NCHA Super Stakes Amateur championship on the Smooth As A Cat daughter. This year, Plendl won the Arbuckle Mountain 4-Year-Old Non-Pro, as well as the Amateur Unlimited of The Non-Pro Cutting, on Mr Metallic Rey LTE $90,040, by Metallic Cat out of Rey Of Oak. Rey Of Oak is also the dam of Cats Lightning Rey; Mr Metallic Rey is her first money earner.
