Im Quintan Checks, bred and owned by Circle Y Ranch, Millsap, Tex., and shown by John Sanislow, added an exclamation point to his 221-point score in the first go-round with a 220.5-point high score on Tuesday, the first day of NCHA Futurity Open second go-round competition. Dual Reyish, with Austin Shepard for Billy Wolf, Whitesboro, Tex., scored 220 points to claim the high cumulative score of 442.5 points, following his first go-round win with 222.5 points. CR Smart Boots, shown by Ty Brown for Sarco Creek Ranch, Victoria, Tex., scored 219 points, to take third in the cumulative with 439.5 points, following Dual Reyish and Im Quintan Checks.

The Open second go-round continues on Wednesday and concludes on Thursday, November 23, Thanksgiving Day.

Im Quintan Checks, was bred and is owned by Circle Y Ranch, Millsap, Tex., owners of his sire, Im Countin Checks, a leading sire of 2017. Im Quintan Checks’ dam, Quintan Blue LTE $594,637, also owned by Circle Y Ranch, is the producer of 10 NCHA money earners of $944,383, including Blue One Time LTE $253,869, Cat Man Blue LTE $225,403, QB Cat LTE $173,211, and Blu Ray LTE $129,748.

John Sanislow, the NCHA earner of $194,284, was a 2016 NCHA Futurity Open Limited finalist and fourth-placed 2017 NCHA Derby Open Limited finalist on Quintessential High LTE $26,684, a half-sister to Im Quintan Checks. Sanislow has also earned nine major Open Limited championships.

Dual Reyish, by Hottish, is out of the Dual Rey daughter A Little Reylena LTE $126,058 and half-brother to Hay U LTE $184,390, by Third Cutting. He is also from the first crop of Hottish foals to perform, including Reyzmehot, who scored 222 points in the first go-round with Wes Ashlock, and Smooth Hottie, with 218.5 points in the first go-round, under Josh Crumpler.

Austin Shepard, an NCHA Hall of Fame Rider and career earner of $7,050,634, ranks number four among cutting’s all-time leading money earners. Shepard won the 2006 NCHA Futurity aboard High Brow CD and claimed the reserve championship in 2016 riding Sir Long Legs.

CR Smart Boots, sired by Boon Too Suen, was purchased for $34,000 from Center Ranch, at the 2016 NCHA Futurity Sales. The sorrel gelding is half-brother to CR Tuff Lovin Cat $10,623, shown as a finalist in the 2017 Cotton Stakes Futurity by Boyd Rice. His dam, CR Smart Lil Kitty, an unshown daughter of High Brow Cat, is out of Smart Letha LTE $70,529, the dam of 11 NCHA money earners of $834,119, including Thomas E Hughes LTE $393,045.

Ty Brown, the NCHA earner of $110,027, won the 2010 NCHA Classic Challenge Open Limited on Smartys Doctor, and most recently was reserve champion of the NRCHA Cowhorse Classic Derby Open Limited on Sioux Me Please.
