Reyzmehot, shown by Wes Ashlock for John and Jana Thacker, Abilene, Tex., scored 222 points to top the fourth day of NCHA Futurity Open go-round competition and join Metallicious, One Alley Cat and Smokin Lena with the high mark from four days of action.

Ketamine Kat, also shown by Wes Ashlock, scored 219 points to tie with Metallic Stardust, ridden by Tarin Rice, for the second-highest score of the day. The third-highest score of 218.5 points was shared by Desiresomemetallic, under Beau Galyean, and Nikes Lil Sue, with R.L. Chartier.

Wes Ashlock purchased Reyzmehot, by Hottish, for the Thackers as a yearling, at the 2015 NCHA Futurity Sales. The sorrel mare is out of Sigourney Rey LTE $22,785, who won the 2009 NCHA Derby Open Limited with Clay Johnson.

Ashlock, the NCHA earner of $318,039, won both the 2014 and 2016 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Open Limited championship titles riding Amafoxy Cat and Metallics Star, respectively. He also placed seventh in the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes Open riding HC Tailgate Date, owned by Eddie and Barbara Young.

Ketamine Kat is owned by David Guitar, who purchased him at the 2016 NCHA Futurity Sales. The bay roan Metallic Cat son is out of Peps Lil Belle LTE $5,544, dam of  4 NCHA money earners of $120,751, including Dualkit LTE $38,338, Safari Belle LTE $38,304, and Quejanaisabelle LTE $37,471.

Metallic Stardust is shown by Rice for Richard and Priscilla Rothwell, Abilene, Tex. The Metallic Cat daughter would be the first NCHA money earner out of CD Royal Joyful LTE $71,680, by CD Royal.

Tarin Rice, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $1,929,205, won the 2012 NCHA Futurity riding He Bea Cat for Jim Crawford, Lincoln, Neb, and the 2014 NCHA Derby on Miss Callie Cat, a full sister to He Bea Cat. Most recently, Rice won the 2017 Brazos Bash Derby on HR Cats Starlight, owned by E.J. Huntley.

Desiresomemetallic is owned by Beau Galyean and his wife, Ashley. The Metallic Cat daughter is three-quarter sister to Thundercat LTE $302,762 and out of Desire Some Freckles LTE $188,990, a leading dam of earners of $1,211,397.

Beau Galyean, a member of both the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame and the NCHA Riders Hall of Fame, is the earner of $3,214,811. He won the 2008 NCHA Futurity Open on Metallic Cat and his most recent  major win was the 2017 PCCHA Classic aboard Metallic Cat son Metallic Rebel LTE $391,922, who like his sire has been ridden exclusively by Galyean, and is on course to become 2017 NCHA Horse of the Year.

Nikes Lil Sue, owned by Theresa Gillock, Las Vegas, Nev., is by Boon Too Suen and out of Cat In White Nikes LTE $52,210, by High Brow Cat. R.L. Chartier, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $2,013,802, won the 2008 NCHA Futurity Open Limited aboard Hay Maker, and has placed as a top five NCHA Futurity finalist four times, including 2014 and 2016, when he placed third on Sueper Kitty LTE $123,311 and Crafty With Cows $234,980, respectively.
