The heat is on Wednesday and Thursday at the NCHA Summer Spectacular, presented by Great American Insurance, as finals in no fewer than eight divisions will be decided in Fort Worth’s Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum.

Blakley Colgrove of Boligee, Alabama brings the high score of 225 into Wednesday’s NYCHA Senior Youth Scholarship finals. She’ll be riding Julie Jarma’s $166,000 earner SS Blacks Lil Kitty, by Blue Bayou Boon. Twenty-nine contestants marked 216.5 or better to qualify for the finals.

Two riders tied with a high score of 219 for the Junior Youth Scholarship finals, where 16 riders advanced with a 214 or better.

Jake Shelton shared the lead on Davette Stegman’s Simply Harry, by Dual Reward; along with Lexi Slaughter on John David Tolbert’s Sheza Jazzy Cat, by Smooth As A Cat.

Four Rios of Mercedes Amateur and Unlimited Amateur finals, presented by Bar RR Ranches, will be held Wednesday and Thursday.

In Wednesday’s $50,000 Amateur Derby, Bear Davis of Sacramento, California and Vick Pannell of Alexander, Arkansas, shared the lead of 217, with 23 riders marking 212.5 or better to qualify. Davis is riding Red Solo Catt, by Metallic Cat, while Pannell is on board Metallic Sister, also by Metallic Cat.

In Wednesday’s Unlimited Amateur Derby, Jennifer Rector of Rogersville, Missouri marked 218 on Smooth Reyn to lead 28 finalists who scored 214 or better to qualify. Smooth Reyn is by Smooth As A Cat.

The top qualifier for Wednesday’s $50,000 Amateur Classic Challenge at 218 is Ray Smith of Kingsbury, Texas on Athena Wildcat, by Athena Puddy Cat. Thirty-five riders scored 213.5 to advance.

Thursday’s Unlimited Amateur Classic Challenge finals will have 32 riders who marked 215.5 or better. They are led by Robbie Gale of Conway, South Carolina, with a 221 on Cat N Corn, by High Brow Cat.

The third and final round of the Grace Ranch NYCHA World Finals on Thursday will decide both the show champions and the point-year champions in the Junior and Senior Divisions.
