Western Bloodstock Ltd. is on track for a record with sales of $6,705,900 for the first two of six days of NCHA Futurity Sales.

A rousing first day, Monday, December 7, saw three horses top $100,000 in Session I of the NCHA 2-Year-Old Sale, followed on Tuesday with Session II, where four horses topped $100,000 and 76 lots sold for an average of $28,474.

Momentum built on Tuesday night, when Desires Kalupa brought a winning bid of $200,000, as the first lot to sell in the Select Yearling Sale. When the last hammer fell, 41 horses had sold for $2,370,500 and an average of $57,817.

In just two days, four horses brought prices of $200,000 or more, nine sold for $100,000 or more, and the average price for 203 total horses sold was $33,033.

Zee Im Smooth, at $225,000, was the high seller from the Select Yearling Sale. Consigned by Tommy Manion, the Smooth As A Cat daughter is a full sister to earners of more than $600,000, including NCHA Non-Pro World Champion and Hall of Fame member Smooth Asa Zee LTE $563,000. Zee Im Smooth was purchased by Terrie Brown, Nocona, Tex.

Desires Kalupa, at $200,000, was the sale’s second-highest seller. Consigned by Woody Bartlett DVM, she was purchased by Rocking P Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex., also the leading buyer of the Select Yearling Sale. Sired by Dual Rey, Desires Kalupa is a full sister to NCHA Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic champion Reys Desire LTE $409,000.

In addition to Desires Kalupa, Rocking P Ranch also purchased Reyzinnette, a filly by Cats Merada; Gettin Dark, a black filly by Metallic Cat; Kit Cat Corn, a colt by Kit Kat Sugar; and a colt by Spots Hot, for a combined total of $502,000.

TGI Showtime, the sale’s third-highest at $95,000, was purchased by DT Horses, Bend, Ore. The One Time Pepto daughter was consigned by Carroll’s Cutting, LLC.
