Melting Snow sold for $280,000 on Monday, December 7, to top the first of six days of NCHA Futurity Sales, during the NCHA Futurity Festival in Fort Worth.

Consigned by Hayden Upton, agent, Melting Snow, a Metallic Cat daughter trained by Upton, was one of three horses that sold for more than $100,000 during Session 1 of the NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale, which concludes on Tuesday, December 8 with Session II.

Bred by Linda Holmes, Longmont, Colo., Melting Snow is out of Nurse Moss, a full sister to Dual Rey, cutting’s #2 all-time leading, living sire.

Desires Cat Dot Com, at $125,000, commanded Monday’s second-highest price. The High Brow Cat daughter, in training with Hunter Meinzer, was consigned by JBRS Partnership. Her dam, Desire Some Freckles, by Freckles Playboy, has produced earners of more than $1,120,000, including Desires Cat Dot Com’s full siblings Thundercat LTE $306,644 and Desires Katrina LTE $135,433.

Smart Dual Kat brought Monday’s third-highest price of $110,000. The Dual Smart Rey colt, consigned by and in training with Wes Ashlock, is half-brother to Little Miss One Time LTE $105,849.
