Competitive bidding at the inaugural Big Bash on the Brazos Sale, September 23 at Silverado Arena in Weatherford, Tex., reinforced the demand for show horses in today’s market.

Two-year-old Louellas Bet, consigned by Oxbow Ranch and in training with Davide Facincani, was the high-seller, at $40,000, from a select number of cutting horses sold while working cattle. The red roan filly is from the first crop of 2011 NCHA World Champion Bet Hesa Cat,also bred by Oxbow Ranch, and is half-sister to Movin Downtown LTE $346,715, as well as three-quarter sister to Louellas Cat LTE $280,119 and Cattalou LTE $166,295. She was purchased by John Viola, Fort Worth, Tex.

Three-year-old Linkinparkafterdark, consigned by and in training with Matt Miller, was the second-highest seller at $29,000. The black daughter of Third Cutting is out of Travs Scooter LTE $221,566, Miller’s 2006 NCHA Non-Pro Futurity Champion.

Produced by Western Bloodstock LTD., the Big Bash on the Brazos, with a top five average of $25,800, offered a limited catalog of horses, from two to six-year-olds, all sold while working cattle. The well-attended sale, preceded by a complimentary lunch, launched the $300,000 Brazos Bash, held at Silverado Arena from September 24 through October 5.
